GLASSWORT
is the most widely distributed annual halophyte in the Sečovlje Salina.
Due to its salty environment, the plant lacks fresh water, but it has managed to adapt to it by storing fresh water in its stem. As its leaves and flowers are reduced, only their separate parts are noticeable. Such plants are called succulents. Samphire thrives in a very salty environment, and is therefore considered a plant capable of surviving in the most extreme living conditions.
