WIGEON

The Wigeon's wintering quarters are shallow coastal waters, mudflats and coastal marshes, occasionally even lagoons and floodplains.
The Sečovlje salt-pans are the most important wintering grounds of these ducks in Slovenia, for even more than 800 individuals have been observed here during certain seasons. In 1996, however, no less than 1150 Wigeons were recorded in the mouth of the Dragonja river.
