TUFTED DUCK
Aythya fuligula
The genus Aythya comprises small stocky diving ducks.
At the Sečovlje salt-pans, all four species that occur in Slovenia have been observed. In winter and during migration period, Tufted Ducks can be seen here apart from Pochards, mainly at sea in front of the pans, in the larger salt-pan basins, and in few Fontanigge channels.
