In the area of Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, these birds are regular although sparse visitors.They mostly stop here during migration, sometimes as early as in early April, and some of them stay here until July. Some individuals even overwinter in the pans. In 2005, a pair of these birds bred at the pans and successfully reared 8 chicks. The Sečovlje salt-pans are the only known breeding grounds for this species in Slovenia.
