Only a decade ago, the observations of this duck were very rare in Slovenia.
But the species, introduced into Europe from the Far East, has settled well in our country and it even breeds here and there. At the Sečovlje salt-pans, a pair settled on the Dragonja river, but although clearly satisfied with the environment, it has not bred there, in spite of the nest box placed along the river.
