MALLARD

In Slovenia, the Mallard is the most common species. It is a generally distributed breeder and the only duck species that breeds at the Sečovlje pans as well.
It nests mainly in grass on the salt-pan levees. It can be observed throughout the year. At the Sečovlje salt-pans, it is the most common during migration and overwintering periods.
