GREY HERON
Ardea cinerea
It resides in the pans year-round, but does not breed here.
In higher numbers, it spends the winter at Fontanigge, where it can be observed along the mouth of the Dragonja river or on the abandoned salt-pan houses. Individually they can also be seen in the basins and salt-pan channels. Quite often it can be observed in the company of both White Egrets and Cormorants.
