GREAT WHITE EGRET

At the Sečovlje salt-pans, it is a regular visitor, but does not breed here.
Quite often, it can be seen in the company of Little Egrets. Great White Egrets reside here in the highest numbers (several tens of individuals) in spring and autumn They are less frequent over the winter, and even fewer during the summer. Their favourite dwelling and feeding grounds are the salt-pan basins and channels. At times they can be seen perching on the abandoned salt-pan houses.
