REDSHANK
In Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, the Redshank resides individually throughout the year.
In high numbers, it occurs during migration, summer-visiting and overwintering periods. It is the most numerous among the species of the genus Tringa that spend the winter in Slovenia, although its occurrence is limited to suitable habitats along the coast. At the pans, the overwintering Redshanks constitute an important part of their Northern Adriatic population. In 2005, its breeding was confirmed for the first time in the area of Fontanigge.
