BLACK-HEADED GULL
These gull are present at the Sečovlje salt-pans throught the year, with their numbers reaching the peak in winter.
In this period, the species is generally distributed in Slovenia; the regions where the Black-headed Gulls are most abundant at this time are the Coastland and Štajerska. On ther Slovene coast, from 1,500 to 2,000 individuals are known to spend the winter. Periodically, up to 1,000 individuals spend the winter at the salt-pans alone, which is about a half of all overwintering Black-heade Gulls on the Slovene coast.
