MOORHEN
Apart from the Mallard, the Moorhen is our most abundant and widely distributed water species.
Quite often, it inhabits relatively small water bodies. In the area of Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, it keeps close to the Dragonja river, inhabiting particularly the reedbeds along its estuary. Also common at Sečovlje mine as well as at larger channels enriched with fresh water, such as Grande and Sv. Jurij.
