Taxonomic part and onomastics
In the flood of systematic changes that are taking place in scientific spheres, we had to decide between different taxonomic divisions.
Most of them are included and already upgraded by the Wildlife Recorder programme. The list of observed species can be changed with regard to the selection of taxonomy. We were able to choose between: Clements (The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World, 6th Edition, Cornell University Press), HBW (Handbook of the Birds of the World, Lynx Edicions), Howard & Moore (Howard and Moore Complete Checklist of the Birds of the World, published by Christopher Helm), and IOC (IOC World Bird List, Version 2.2).
The sequence of birds (Anseriformes, gallinaceous birds, divers ...), which
is used in this part, has also been adopted by EU members states. It was
initially presented by Dutch ornithologist K. H. Voous (1977), and is already
used by some general works as well.
The species dealt with in this part are classified after the sequence any
systematic divisioning in »The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World, 6th
Edition, Cornell University Press).
Slovenian names were taken from »Prispevek k slovenskemu ornitološkemu
imenoslovju in imenotvorju« / A contribution to the Slovene ornithological
terminology (Jančar, 1999).
