The Salina Square
The Salina Square is surrounded by several buildings reconstructed in 2003.
They are occupied by offices, laboratory, snack bar, administration and Visitor Centre. On the roof of one of the reconstructed buildings a viewing platform has been set up. It is accessible via circular staircase, and from the platform the skyline of Sečovlje Salina is even more stunning. In the past, the Salina Square was a meeting place of the pans' saltworkers. Under it, a large water reservoir was built, into which rainwater flew from gravel roofs of the nearby buildings. The gatehouse is embellished with anemometer and the bell which used to summoned the saltworkers to a snack or meeting.
