The 5-year project, which runs from October 2022 to September 2027, is financed by the European LIFE fund. The leading partner of the project is WWF Italy, and 7 Italian and 2 Slovenian partners participate in the project (in addition to the KPSS, the KP Ljubljansko barje).
The project is aimed at the conservation and repopulation of the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) by implementing activities aimed at improving the natural habitats of the European pond turtle and by removing invasive non-native species from nature and raising public awareness.

LIFE MANSALT concluding press conference

At the concluding press conference on the LIFE MANSALT project, held on Friday 16 October 2015, results of the five-year LIFE+MANSALT project, which was concluded on 30 September 2015, were presented. Within the framework of the project »LIFE MANSALT – Man and Nature at the Sečovlje Saltpans«, 7,056,366 EUR were envisaged to be drawn (48.75% contribution by EU, 48.27% by the financers of the Republic of Slovenia and Telekom d.d., and 2.89% by SOLINE d.o.o.).
The Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning implemented its commitments concerning co-financing of the LIFE project via the Republic of Slovenia Rehabilitation Programme “The elimination of consequences of direct damages caused to the water infrastructure facilities, valuable natural features and cultural heritage in the area of Sečovlje Salina Nature Park and Strunjan Salina Nature Park by the floods following high tides on 1December 2008«.
Through the carried out activities, approximately 95% of the available funds were drawn in five years.
The main of objective of the project that supplements the objectives of the Rehabilitation Programme is to conserve biodiversity in Sečovlje Salina Nature Park.
