How To Ensure Favourable Conditions For Mediterranean Killfish IN SSNP?

Nola Obersnel, student at the University of Maribor, Faculty on Mathematics and Natural Sciences, has presented her thesis on ecological parameters which influence population of the Mediterranean Killfish in SSNP. The thesis was undertaken under the auspices of prof. dr. Lovrenc Lipej and his team of researchers.

Results of the research confirm the importance of conservation actions, undertaken within the LIFE MANSALT project; the most important activity is dredging edge channels which connect shallow ponds with channels and enables exchange of fresh waters. Mediterranean Killfish prefers channels where shallow parts are complemented with deeper water sections. Thesis will soon be available at the SSNP website.
