The cultural heritage of the salt pans
Due to the enormous pressure on our short coastline, the preservation of the salt pans as a landscape park is important and valuable from the point of view of preserving the cultural landscape and technical heritage, as well as natural values and biodiversity. Salt production is still practised in parts of the salt pans in a traditional way and dates back to the Middle Ages.
