Brackish marsh
Salt pools or inlets supplied by fresh water from coastal springs are called brackish marshes.

Owing to the constant changes in the salinity, temperature and oxygen content, the living conditions in these brackish waters are very harsh indeed. No wonder, therefore, that only some organisms have managed to adapt to them. At the Sečovlje Salina, the brackish marsh spreads along the left bank of the Dragonja river, where it is supplied by freshwater springs called Fontanelle.
