A natural salt pool is maintained exclusively by high tides, while most of the salt pools in the salt-pan system are sustained by humans through their salt-making activities. The salt pools in salina dry up for some time. The salinity in these pools does not exceed that in the nearby sea, but oscillations in the concentration of dissolved salt in the water are perceivable, especially on the account of rainstorms.
