Salt meadow
On alluvial deposits along the rivers’ estuaries, which are inundated only during the highest tides, salt-loving plants (halophytes) begin to thrive.

A salt meadow spreading on the border between marine and land environments is considered one of the richest terrestrial habitats. The Fontanigge salt meadows consist of halophyte perennials. These meadows are the breeding site of some very interesting and in our country rare bird species, and are also extremely rich with a variety of different insects.
