Visit to the Norwegian CARS-OUT! partner
In the past days the project group from Sečovlje Salina Nature Park and Strunjan Landscape Park visited the Norwegian project partner in the National Park Jotunheimen. The visit was part of the CARS-OUT! activities. The friendly staff showed us the most interesting points of the park and explained how the motor traffic is organized in Jotunheimen park
Jotunheimen is a mountain area in Eastern Norway, covering an area of roughly 3,500 km2. The park is known for its many waterfalls, rivers, lakes, glaciers and green valleys. The park is also known for the Norway's highest mountain Galdhøpiggen. NP Jotunheimen is very popular among hikers, skiers, cyclists and those who like to spend their free time in unspoiled nature. The numerous visitors of this great park are aware that access with motor vehicles is not possible to all the points of interest so they leave their vehicles in parking lots on the edges of the park and in rare parking spaces within the park. The level of awareness and respect of the rules of behavior in the park are very high. The visit was a success, we acquired a lot of interesting and useful information on the organization of motorized traffic to implement in our two parks. These precious experience will serve as a guideline in the implementation of the project CARS-OUT! Norwegian partners will visit our areas in September. We look forward to meet again.
