PROJECT LIFE MANSALT - Man and Nature in Sečovlje pans

In Sečovlje Salina Nature Park since October 2010 we performed MANSALT LIFE - Man and Nature in Sečovlje pans. The main objective of the project is to preserve biodiversity in the Salina.

European pond turtle is getting a new home in the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park

In the framework of the project LIFE Mansalt attention is also focused to provide favorable ecological status for the preservation and existence of the European pond turtle, the only European freshwater turtle. Research carried out by experts in the area of the Korea wetlands at the former coal mine Sicciole have confirmed that there this is a major area for endangered species in the country. At the same time, it was found that the extent and depth of the water in this wetland is reducing and that the area is being overgrown.

Collection of scientific and professional papers ofthe project Climaparks

Presented here is a collection of scientific and professional papers based on the research activities conducted in the scope of the project Climaparks – Climate Change and Management of Protected Areas. Nine protected areas from Slovenia and Italy have worked together on this project for over three and a half years. As the project title implies, Climaparks was not solely a research project.

World Wetlands Day 2014: Wetlands and agriculture

February each year is World Wetlands Day, the Convention's annual campaign day.
2014 is the UN International Year of Family Farming – so the Ramsar Convention chose Wetlands & Agriculture as the World Wetlands Day theme for 2014. And what a great theme for Ramsar, given that wetlands are so often intimately linked with agriculture. Our slogan? Wetlands and Agriculture: Partners for Growth, placing a focus on the need for the wetland and agricultural sectors (and the water sector too of course) to work together for the best shared outcomes.
